Modderman Service is a family-run, independent Porsche facility specializing in expert service and repairs with a personal touch. Owner David Modderrman, master technicians Steve and Carter, and David’s, son, Nate (third-generation Modderman tech) will personally address your concerns and update you as work is completed. At Modderman Service, Porsche enthusiasts appreciate the fact that they can ask questions and talk “Porsche” one-on with industry experts.
Facility: Clients appreciate the shop’s relaxed, clean, and friendly atmosphere, including a customer reception area adorned with entertaining, Porsche bric-and-brac. Here, one can help themselves to fresh-brewed coffee and cool-filtered drinking water, all while kicking back and leafing through fun, auto-related reading material.
Quality: Modderman Service uses the latest factory-authorized diagnostic and repair tools to service your modern Porsche as well as the classics. All work comes with a warranty covering factory, OEM parts and labor.

Client Dan Harrison
Dan has been a Modderman Service enthusiast going back to the early ’70s, when David’s, Uncle Willen ran a gas and service station. When Willen and his two brothers, Ron (David’s father) and Hans, opened Modderman Service in Mountain View, Dan, of course, continued his patronage. “Willen was a knowledgeable Porsche man, extremely hard-working and would instill trust,” says Ron. Nowadays, it’s David and his crew who keep Dan’s red 1972 912 and his silver 1973 Targa singing. “David is honest and hard-working like his Uncle Willen,” says Dan. “He’s into competition racing and knows endurance and high performance. As a family man, David knows my kids by name and he’s got that great sense of humor!”
Client Kathleen Smiley
Kathleen has been a loyal customer ever since she purchased her 1999 Boxster In February 2001. “I take my Boxster to David for all my yearly maintenance, and I trust him to take care of any necessary to repairs, ” she says. Kathleen appreciates the personalized attention she receives whenever she comes into the shop. “David or the guys will always stop what they’re doing so I can ask questions,” says Kathleen. “I like that they will go over all my options explain everything I need to know, to help me make the best decisions.” Kathleen is a fan of the drop-off and shuttle service, and says, “David will provide a ride to work if I need to leave my car at the shop. I really like the convenience.”
Client Doug Wong
Doug drives a 1968 912, a car he’s loved and owned for over 50 years, ever since the car was brand new and he drove it from the dealership’s showroom. Doug says the car runs great and enjoys how it handles along California scenic highways such as Big Sur and points north. “David’s done an excellent job of taking care of my car,” says Doug. The shop has performed most of the scheduled maintenance, brake services, oil and lube, things of that nature. “David is real helpful because he’s so patient with customers; he fully explains everything to you. He’s always bent over backwards when it comes to customer service.”
